YAY FOR OUTDOORS!

Outdoors allows for the best, natural, and flattering lighting for everyone. Consider the best location to complement your chosen theme. This could be an outdoor setting such as a park, garden, or beach for a natural and scenic backdrop. I recommend clients think about any area or park that may be special to them and don't underestimate your backyard!

Sometimes outdoors just isn't an option. Alternatively, you could opt for an indoor location such as a studio, home, or rented space.  In these instances I do have access to some studios for rent.

Some locations do come with additional costs like park fees or permits and studio rentals. In this circumstances any additional costs incurred due to location fees will be passed on to the client and discussed and documented prior to the photography agreement signing.

ANYTIME WITH SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS FOR FALL

The majority of family sessions can be done anytime throughout the year with fall being the most highly requested season. Many families want fall colors as a backdrop for family photos which is understandable because they turn out beautiful. The downfall of this is these fall colors are typically short-lived here in the upper midwest. If you wish to capture fall colors in your family photos - I recommend booking up to 3 months in advance.

If you wish to have family photos done another time of the year, scheduling can usually be done up to 1 month in advance.

The "GOLDEN HOUR"

The "Golden Hour" is a term used in photography to describe the 1-2 hours after sunrise or 1-2 hours prior to sunset. This   allows is optimal soft, beautiful, natural lighting that is flattering for everyone!

With busy work schedules, nap times, location accessibility, and weather, getting the "Golden Hour" isn't always possible. Outdoor, natural lighting is still the best option for any photos. This can be done by choosing locations with open shade or utilizing a studio (for additional rental costs) that has large windows to allow for natural light.

If children will be included in the session, I recommend that we schedule the session after nap time, if applicable, and after they have had a snack.
