Birthday & Milestone
Birthdays & Milestones are meant to be celebrated! During these events there are other things to worry about - the guests, the cake, the decorations...too often you dont get the chance or forget to take pictures on the day of the event!
By hiring a photographer you have one less thing to worry about & you get great photos that document the celebration.
ALLERGIES & SENSITIVITIES
Due to severe and sometimes life-threatening nature of food allergies and sensitivities, Little Sue Photography DOES NOT provide any food items that maybe required for your session. Clients are responsible for any and all food items for your session, as you are most aware of your family's medical needs and conditions.
Things to Consider
Select a theme that reflects the milestone or birthday being celebrated. Whether it's a first birthday, Sweet 16, the big 3-0, or any other significant occasion, a theme adds a fun and cohesive element to the photoshoot. Themes could range from princesses and superheroes to vintage, floral, or even based on hobbies and interests.
Consider the best location to complement your chosen theme. This could be an outdoor setting such as a park, garden, or beach for a natural and scenic backdrop. Alternatively, you could opt for an indoor location such as a studio, home, or rented space decorated according to your theme.
Schedule the photoshoot at a time when the lighting is optimal, such as during the golden hours of early morning or late afternoon. Soft, natural light enhances the beauty of outdoor shots, while indoor sessions may require additional lighting equipment for the best results.
Choose outfits that complement the theme and reflect the celebrant's personality. For milestone sessions, consider outfits that showcase the age or stage being celebrated, such as onesies for a first birthday or formal attire for a Sweet 16. For birthday sessions, you can have multiple outfit changes to capture different looks and moods.
Incorporate props and decorations that enhance the theme and add visual interest to the photographs. This could include balloons, banners, signs, themed props, floral arrangements, and any other decorative elements that help bring your vision to life.
While posed portraits are important, don't forget to capture candid moments that reflect the joy, laughter, and genuine emotions of the celebration. Candid shots often make for some of the most memorable and cherished photographs.
Consider involving family members and close friends in the photoshoot to make it a shared and memorable experience. Group shots and candid interactions add depth and meaning to the photographs, capturing the love and support of those closest to the celebrant.
For birthday sessions, a popular addition is a cake or food smash photoshoot. This involves letting the birthday celebrant enjoy a cake or their favorite food while capturing their playful reactions and messy moments. It's a fun and memorable way to document and create adorable photographs.
It is recommended to have your child try the food a few times prior to session day. This ensures they recognize the item and dive in - hands and face first!
